Galveston Pen Pals Needed for this school year

Are you an encourager? Love kids? Enjoy seeing kids learn and grow?  Like having friends?  If you answered “Yes!” to any/all of these questions, you might LOVE being a pen pal with a first grader at Galveston Elementary.

Approximately once a month our Crossroads Pen Pals write a short letter in the booklet to our student pen pal (the students make the booklets), it gets delivered, and the 1st grade pen pal writes back. You and your 1st grade pen pal will write back and forth all school year building a friendship, cumulating in a fun end of the year pizza party in the classroom!

The students love to ask questions and tell about themselves, all the while practicing their writing and language skills.  AND the adult pen pals get a unique opportunity to encourage and connect with these sweet students!  What an awesome learning and encouraging opportunity on so many levels!

Crossroads Pen pals are asked to -

1. Write letters approximately once a month.

2. Make sure their pen pal booklets are picked up and brought back to the church Mercy Kiosk on time.

3. Enjoy encouraging kiddos (approximately 6-7 years old).

As the Pen Pal Liaison, Amy Nichols will drop the booklets off at the school and pick them up after the kids write in them. She will contact you when you need to pick them up from the Mercy Kiosk at church on Sunday. Most times returning a pen pal booklet does not require an extra trip – just bring it to church!

I can honestly say you will LOVE being a pen pal!  These kids are so cute and fun! It is a blessing and joy!

If you would like to join our pen pal team for the year, please let me know asap.  We will start in September and go through early May.

I hope to hear from you soon!

OUR MISSION is to Love God, Love Each Other, and Love The World.

“Jesus said, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart…soul…and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments.’” – Matthew 22:37-40

“Jesus said, ‘Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.’” – Matthew 28:19-20

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” – John 13:34-35

OUR VISION is to lead people into a life that is completely connected; firmly rooted in our love for God and fully expressed through our love for others. This is lived out in relationships as we Gather, Grow, & Go.
