By Heidi Shirley-Hawes in mercy Refugee Resettlement 6 months ago | 195 views Link:

Some people have expressed interest in East Valley opportunities to interact with resettled refugee families. I learned of one from the East Valley Refugee Coalition meeting.

Central Christian Church is hosting a Summer Learning program for refugee families in the Mesa area. This program will be for the whole family and will provide opportunities for parents and children to learn together, for parents to gain conversational/literacy skills and for students to prepare for the 2018-19 school year. They will be hosting the program at Guerrero Elementary School, which will also allow the kids a place to run and play indoors for a short time each week.

Dates: Wednesdays – June 27th, July 11th, July 18th and July 27th

Time: 6:30 – 8:00 pm

Location: Guerrero Elementary School  (463 S. Alma School Road, Mesa AZ)

Contact: to sign up to serve

They will also host a training for volunteers on Monday night, June 18th at 6:00 pm at Central’s Gilbert Campus Student Center (965 E Germann, Gilbert AZ.)

OUR MISSION is to Love God, Love Each Other, and Love The World.

“Jesus said, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart…soul…and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments.’” – Matthew 22:37-40

“Jesus said, ‘Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.’” – Matthew 28:19-20

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” – John 13:34-35

OUR VISION is to lead people into a life that is completely connected; firmly rooted in our love for God and fully expressed through our love for others. This is lived out in relationships as we Gather, Grow, & Go.
